1). 
I bought this 2012.11 setup which just arrived via DHL from China with multiplexer and cables.
Seller will remote in to enable the software to the laptop & multiplexer.
To be able to run HHT-Win it's set up on Windows XP - thus sold with a Dell D630 / Lenovo T410 (now T440P).
Their multiplexer uses a LAN cable, so laptop doesn't need an RS232 port.

Also bought a separate SSD with 2022.06 software, which I installed on a newer Lenovo laptop that then needs to be remotely activated.
Software comes loaded on Windows 10, and also connects via LAN cable.


OK, so the (Gm-Tech2.com) software is working well. Everything arrived via DHL.
As I understand it, post 2012 software requires a Mercedes online login to code ECU's to another car.

I decided to use one laptop for two software setups, a Lenovo T420 (not a T420s) - has good screen resolution, WiFi, able to swap a processor & can open the fan housing to clean fan fluff, new parts are available cheap (battery, charger, RAM, BIOS battery).

Their C4 multiplexer has a LAN cable port rather than RS232, so the laptop only needs a LAN port (or card with LAN port), and to be able to run Win XP and/or Win 10.

To change software I just swap out the HD (hard drive) & change the BIOS setting ('Compatibility' mode for Win XP hard drive).
I actually tried a second hard drive 'caddy' which lets you put a hard drive in a DVD tray slot, but it causes problems since XP is on one drive and Win 10 on the other, and they need different BIOS settings.


They remote in to enable the software via TeamViewer details you provide them. The multiplexer isn't connected during the process, so if your laptop doesn't have WiFi you could use LAN for internet during this.

So effectively I got from them:

• C4 multiplexer with all the types of Benz connector cables incl. OBDII, 38-pin.
• HD with 2012 software on Win XP for offline programming (engineer mode coding).
• SSD with 2022.12 software on Win 10 - that also has HHT (hand-held tester replication software).

2).
